to the Colonells agaynst fitz Williams if he did not keepe this Examinant close prisoner And this Examinant heard divers people when he was in prison say that Aldermen Robert Arthur would for 5 s. give any one 20 s. if Tredagh was not taken by such a day And this Examinant Likewise heard the Prist that liveth with Mr the said Arthur say that he wone 20 s. of Mr the said Arthur on those termes
Item this Examinant deposeth that one Robert Weltch of Kinnure and also one delahide of Rush are taxed and doe pay (as he verily beleiveth) Tenne shillings a peece or there about each weeke vnto the Irish Rebells Army
Item the said delahide sayd to this Examinant that he doth wonder that the Church of England should Canonize Queen Elizabeth for a Saynt she being a damned whore and other mixious words agaynst that blessed Princesse, not fitt to be spoken or written
Lastly this Examinant deposeth that oneffox Alderman { } about Shrovetyde last vnderstandinge that two flemish shipps were att ancore off Irelands Eye, repayreth presently to the Cheife Comanders of the Rebells att Kilmanham (vizt) Collonell Burne Collonell Plunckett and others and acquainted them therewith, wherevpon they gaue him a warrant to take vp such men as the said ffox should like of, and man out 3 fisher boates to lay aborde the said shipp in the night (had the weather permitted) amongest which he made Choise of this Examynant tellinge him that vnlesse that he went vpon that service that he would hange him vp the next morninge by 8 of the clock. to which this Examinate sayd that he would rather dye then doe any Act agaynst his Maiestie because he had for a longe tyme before bin employed in his service, to which the said ffox with a smylinge countenance sayd. And by God so you shall. But the next morning It pleased god that the winde was somewhat fayre and the sayd 2 ships waighed Ancore and sayled away and so their wicked and rebellious purposes were frustrated
