Robert A Arundell 22 Nov: 1642 sworne & examined
Saith that hee this Examinant comeing along with the Convoy which came from Trim on Wensdaie last att the Towne the wheeles of the carriage which hee this examinant brought alonge with him together with ffaior annother of Seriant Crowes carriage{s} comeing neare the Towne of Castle-knock, were broken Soe as this Examinant together with seaven persons more who attended about the said Carrs thinking themselfes to bee out of danger of the Rebells beeing soe neare the said Towne of Castleknock staid behinde but before this Examinant & the rest with him could get to the said Towne they were set vpon by about twelue Rebells who brought them the said Persons to a Towne some th two or three miles from Castleknock where they the said Rebells kept him this Examinant & the rest that night And the next morning before daie they were carried by the said Rebells 2 or 3 mile further & there others of the Rebells mett with them And after they had talked some tyme with him this Examinant & the rest they the said Rebells fell to strippeing of them which when they had done they shot the aforesaid Seriant together with ffoure more of the men which were in his this Examinants company, and strippe{ing} hime this Examinant likewise thinking to haue shot him alsoe but that hee perswaded them hee would procure one of theire prisoners to redeeme him Soe And the same daie beeing Thursdaie last past hee this Examinant together with annother in his Company were brought back by the afores{aid} Rebells within to a Towne neare Castleknock where they were kept all the day and there beeing comitted

into the Custodie of one who was appointed & had strickt charge to loose vnto thm him this Examinant that hee gott not awaie from him But this Examinant about twelue of the clock that night; espying his keeper to bee fast asleepe made an escape from him & soe came to Dublin
