The examjnacion of Arnold Bote doctor of phisick taken vppon oath at the Board
<e> The said doctor Bote saith that since the begining of this Rebellion hee had noe speeche with Baron Hilton concerning the signing of any writing, but saith that before the Rebellion broke forth in Ireland, a writing was brought to the <f> examinant conteining a petition to the parliament of England declaring the exorbitant libertie taken by the Papists in publique concourse to masse & desiring [ ] therin, to which petition the examinant signed
<g> And now vppon further colleccion of himself hee saith that hee and some others drewe a draft of a petition about the begining of the last yeare and since this Rebellion began which petition was intended

<h> was directed to the Lords Justices & Councell & intended by the petitioners to bee presented to their lordships the substance whereof was an humble suite to their lordships if they thought fitt to cleer the Citty of Dublin of <i> Papists & whether hee showed that petition to Baron Hilton or not or spoke with him therin hee remembreth not, But saith hat hee thincks hee might have spoken to him therof, And hee saith that the petitioners declined that petition in regard that <k> the Commissioner s it was intended by them to have had the hands thervnto of the Commissioners appointed for examining the dispoiled Protestantes, and they not signing it the petitioners for that reason declined the petition, and saith that after that time to his knowledge there was noe more speeche had touching that matter
