The examjnacion of William Shepard taken at the Board 14 febr 1645
<n> The said William Shepard saith that on tuisday last the examinant together with Jonathan Palye, Jeremy Smith Thomas Lowe and a mayd whose name hee knoweth not tooke boate in Leonard Graves boate & the said parties & Leonard Graves, & 4 boatemen went in the said boate to the shipp called the Swan wherof Capten Clerk is now Capten
<o> And hee saith that the examinant did not conceive that it was any fault or contrary to the direccions of the state to goe to the said shipp, because Capten John Bartlet sawe the examinant & the said other persons taking boate & did not so much as forbid them, or tel them there was any danger
<p> Hee saith that the occasion which drewe the examinant thither, was because hee is a most miserable poore man, & therfore getting a few turnips hee carried those aboard, hoping for those to gett somthing to releeve his him his wife & children. Hee sai and for those hee there gott a cupple of codds & a few bisketts <q> Hee saith hee carried nothing els with him [ ] and that hee carried neither lettres nor messages to or from any to or from the said shipp or any other of the shipps now then in the bay of Dublin and that the examinant went only to the shipp, but some of the rest went to that & the other shipps,

<r> Hee saith hee sawe in the boate some things tied vpp together but what was in them hee knowes not and was tould that they belonged to the boatemen,
<s> Hee saith of hee knoweth of noe other provisions other then the said turnipps, nor of any lettres or messages sent by any to or from the said shipps
<t> Hee saith hee had noe licence to goe aboard the said shipp. Hee saith that 2 yong men came from the said shipp in the said boate to the shore with the examinant and the rest at their returne, but what their names are, or what their busines was, or to whom, the examinant knoweth not,
