The examjnacion of Leonard Graves of Dublin Gabbard man taken at the board 14 febr 1645
<v> The said Leonard Graves saith that on tuisday last Jonathan Palye Jeremy Smith Thomas Lowe & William Shepard hird the examinant & his boate for vj s. to carry them to the shipps then riding out at the bay of Dublin, whervppon the examinant with his said boate & 4 boatemen tooke the said persons, and a yong boy whose father dwells at Clontarfe, and whose name the examinant knoweth not & and a maide whose name hee knoweth not aboard the said boate & carried them to the said shipps, Hee <w> saith hee knoweth of noe provisions carried aboard the said boate to the said shipps, but 200 of turnipps which cost x d. carried by the examinant & the said Shepard

<x> Shepard, Hee saith that there was nothing tied vpp together in the said boate saving the examinantes caddoe for him to lye in, within which there was nothing els conteined, Hee saith hee knoweth of noe lettres or messages sent by any to or from the said shipps. Hee saith hee had noe licence <y> to goe to the said shipps but vsually heertofor having from Capten John Bartletts shipp admission to goe to such shipps, when his occasions requird, hee then observing Capten Bartlett to stand by & see those men goe aboard the said boate, and taking noe excepcion therat, the examinant thought hee might carrye them to the said shipps without <z> danger. Hee saith that at the returne back of the said boate, there came from the shipp called the Nicholas a yong man whose name the examinant knoweth not, & a boy from the Swan a boy which had been taken in her when shee was taken away hence whose name the examinant <a> knoweth not, And hee saith hee conceives the boyes busines to bee to returne to his father who dwells at Clontarfe, but what the said mans busines was, or to whom the examinant knoweth not only hee said hee came to visit a sister of his in Dublin, & living (as hee said) at the Earle of Kildares
