Pa: Jordan of Rathcoffy in the County of Kildare being examined before me William Hilton esquire one of the barrons of the Exchequer on the iiijth of July 1642 deposeth and saith
<y> That he served mr Luttrell of Luttrellstowne since from abowt allhallantide last vntill abowt a weeke before Easter last, and then went to Rosberry in the county of kildare within five myles of killrush: and there, was vppon that day the battell was fowght there and there mett <z> with Captayne lawrance walter Hussey going to the Irish army to killrush, butt went not with him [ that ] and so came back within a quarter of a mile of Luttrelstowne to west[oy]anstowne stayed there twoe dayes and went thence to Rathcoffy to mr Nicholas owgan abowt Easter and there abode vntill the Castle of Rathcoffy was taken and that John owgan then being in the howse told him that there was ffifty <a> five pounds of powder in the howse butt from whence the sayd powder came he knoweth not and further sayeth that Captayne Gilbert Tallbott and seriant maior Thomas dongan being then in actuall rebellion was were intertayned by mr Nicholas owgane with meat drink and and lodging three dayes and nights at Rathcoffy and that Captayne Lawrance owgan was intertayned by the <b> sayd Nicholas at Rathcoffy with meat drink and Lodgeing from the tyme of the battall of killrussh, vntill the taking of of the castle of Rathcoffy though the sayd Nicholas did know: the sayd Lawrance to be in actuall rebellion
