The examinacion of Edward Walsh taken before me William Hilton Esquire one of the barrons of the Exchequer on the 5th day of July 1642 deposeth and whoe being sworne saith that he was borne att Killincarrig <x> in the Com of Wickloe and that hee [ ] hath liued att in the Com of Kildare any tyme these sixteen yeares past and he further saith that hee was att the battle of Kilrush vnder the Comaund of Captaine Tho: Woogan sonne vnto William Woogan of the Downings in the Com of Kildare gent in open and actuall rebellion against the Kings Maiestie, and that the said Tho: and his Company being rowted att Kilrush by the Kings army amongest <y> the rest of the rebells this examinant did fly vnto the Downings in the C om of Kildare and there was with the said Tho: Wogan and that vpon Thursday last was sevennight this examinant came to Racoffy and there found Captaine Tho: Woogan and Captaine Walter Hussey and diuers other poore peoble that did fly there for refuge and he alsoe saith that he did see dureing his being there Captaine Gibb Gilbert <z> Talbott and Captaine Tho: dongan and two or three of the Walshes butt knoweth not what powder was then in the Castle nor from whence the sam was gotten and that this examinent continued in the said Castle vntill the same was taken by the english army
