The examinacon of Edward Sherlock preist taken the day and yeare aforesaid
<i> Who being examined and sworne to so much as concerneth others saieth and confesseth that he was in the Castle of Clongowes wood when the Kinges army came before it and that he came thither a moneth before and the occasione of his comming thither, was because the parish of Badewingstowne where he formerly liued was all burnt and hauing came unto clongowes wood because it was the next towne unto him that was inhabited, all the Country thereabouts beside Racophy Duneda and it being destroide, He saieth that it was after

<k> the murder and robbory of the english man of Dunheda that he came thither, and that he heard of the said murder and robbory before he went unto the castle of Clongowes wood but [woul] yet was forced through want of meanes to fly for releife thither, He sayeth he sawe no gentlemen of the country resorting thither but John Geidon of Irishtowne who came and <John Gaidon> fetcht away a trunke thither once in an euening and fetcht away a trunke which he had formerly left there, and further saieth not any thing that is materiall more then what is formerly declared.
