The Examination of Margaret Speeres wife vnto Allexander Hay, taken the 17th day of Januarie 1641; before me the Mayor of the Cyttie of Dublin
Who deposeth & saith that she & her husband beeing in feare of Robbing, att the tyme they were liueing vnder Sir John Bourk, and Sir John heareing of theire feare both himselfe and his Ladie did warrant them they should not bee robbed, as long as they were vpon his Land, & Sir John soone after beeing drinking with the Rebells vpon a Satturdaie the next morning beeing Sundaie, this Examinant & her husband were both robbed by the same companie that were with Sir John, and were stript & left stark naked and this Examinant vpon their comeing awaie Sir John & my Ladie sent two of theire men with them to killcock, for feare they should bee robbed of 2 li. 19 s. they had left & they the said men tooke the said monie from them & further saith not &c.
