The examinacion of Oker Butt taken before mee Sir William Ryves knight one of the Justices of his Maiesties Court of cheefe place vponn his Corporall oath vppon the 24th of December 1641 in manner and forme following, (vizt)
<A> ffirst hee this examinate saith That vpon the foure and twentieth daie of November 1641. hee was assaulted about one of the clock at Midnight in his dwelling howse in Bolganreagh in the Barony of Bantrie in the Countie of Wexford by the number of fourtene persons who or thereabouts whoe with force and Armes broke and entred into his this deponents dwelling howse, and there rifled and spoyled this examinants howsehouldstuff, lynnen, and wearing apparrell, and stripped him his wife and children naked, threatning to murther this deponent In which said most cruell and rebellious act there were some of this examinants neighbours as namelie one Donogh Roe, and a Cottener both of them tenants vnto Richard Brookes of Hoartowne esquire and one of the other Rebells in that Companie (being as hee said) the Comaunder or Leader of that them) said that they hadd full <B> direccions and Comission of theire generall to execute such and the like exploites, and that wee Protestants should have noe longer respite to remaine in this kingdome but vntill the next daie, and that then wee should have generall warning to depart this kingdome vpon paine of death, and that suche strict Comission was sent over vnto theire generall by the Queene and some of the best nobilitie of England,
<C> Hee further saith That the aforesaid Companie departed this deponents howse some twoe howers before daylight, and after theire departure about half an hower before day Light, there came a great Companie to the number of threescore or thereabouts all armed with divers sorts of Weapons, which said Companie with more crueltie tooke as much as they could carrie, of this deponents goods out of his howse, and alsoe did take and drive away all his stock of Cattle in the feilds to the value of Sixscore ponds After which Crueltie, and threatning of the lives of this deponent his wife and children, hee and they being soe stripped did fly from theire habitacion to Wexford <D> And after this deponents leaveing Balgaureagh aforesaid there came thither three companies more, with divers of this deponants neighbours whoe tooke and carryed away all that was left loose save onelie the Corne in Haggard.

<F> This deponant further saith, That the next day after one of this deponents bordering neighbours namelie Christopher ffurlong of Daverstowne gent haveing caused a great number of Pikes to bee made by Garratt รด Clowny Carpenter in the said ffurlongs woods, which were headed by one Donogh, the Smith of Ballyshoge pretending that the same were made for the lord Esmond, Hee the said ffurlong did ioyne himself and went into rebellion with the said Traitors and afterwards came in Companie with many of the said rebells to distroy this deponents haggard of corne, and to take possession of the said towne and Land, as hee this examinant hath beene crediblie informed,
<G> And this deponent further deposeth, That by the takeing away of the sad goods, and Chattles and Cattle, with the fine hee paid, and improvement of his Land, hee hath beene dampnified to the value of six hundred pounds, besides the future miserie hee his wife and children are like to fall into.
Hee this deponent further saith That the vndernamed persons were at the robbing of this deponent and takeing away of his goods vizt
