The examination of Richard Cleybrooke of Ballyellis in the County of Wexford farmer taken the xxijth of November 1641 vpon oath at Board
Whoe saith that vpon ffriday last being the xixth of this month of November, this examinate haveing beene robbed by the rebells of all his goods & chattle which he had at Ballyellis aforesaid, he fled to the Lord Esmonds howse at Limrick hopeing to fynd some releefe there But soone after the said Lord Esmond was inforced to betake himself to flight with about 6 or 7 horsmen more, becawse the Rebells came in a great multitude to the Lord Esmonds howse. He saith alsoe that Luke Toole of Castlekevin Luke Birne and Phelim Birne, were the cheefe Comanders of the said Rebells, whoe presently vpon their approach entered <A> into the said howse of Limrick and tooke possession thereof. He saith alsoe that he heard the said Luke Toole say that the intended soone after to Martch to Kilrothery and take it, and afterwards to come to Dublin and take the Castle there, And that he would not Leave an Englishman nor Englishwoman in the Kingdome: But they all should be banished. And that he would not leave any English beast alive nor any of the breed of them He saith alsoe <B> that he heard the sayd Luke Toole say that he would have his owne religion setled in this Kingdome, And that he would pull the Lord Parsons hatt from his head
