William Cox of Athlone in the County of Roscomon gent sworne and examined sayth That in the begining of the present Rebellion vizt about the months of November and december 1641 in the Counties of Meath Roscomon the Kings County and Galway this deponent was deprived robbed and dispoiled of the possession rents and proffitts of his farmes and of his Corne cattle horses Mares geldinges Colts hay Sheepe, benefite of leases & due debts of the value & to his losse of eight hundred fortie five powndes ster And sayth that the parties Rebells that tooke some of his goodes within the County of Westmeath were theis that follow vizt Robert Dillon of Cannestowne in the County of westmeath Esquire (and a Justice of the peace,) To whose towne & Landes the

Roscomon
deponents Corne hay and other goodes were carried away forceibly (as this deponent hath bin credibly informed; Edmond fizPeirce Dillon nere Ballolologhe in the said County gent, and others whome he cannott name becawse it was done in the night, And the parties Rebells that robbed & dispoiled him in the Kinges County were Donogh McTeige ô Coghlan of Clanline in the Kinges Countie gent and his followers And that the parties Rebells that robbed and dispojled him in the Countie of Roscomon were John Kellie of Clennark in the Countie of Roscomon gentleman and his followers And sayth that one Richard ô Brian of Craggan in the said Countie of Westmeath gent and his wicked souldjers cutt the throats of two of the deponents Mares worth xx li., Becawse he could not take & drive them away over a bogg And that the Rebell Captain Brabson of Ballinenslow in the County of Galway & his souldjers robbed and dispojled him this deponent at Athlone of horses & Cowes worth 70 li. sterling And that Edmund ô Kelly of Mavannan in the County of Roscomon gent and his Souldjers robbed and tooke awaie from Athlone aforesaid fifteene English Cowes and forty sheepe of the deponents of English Race worth nyntie Poundes sterling
