The examynation of Patrick Kerakan taken before vs Daniel Huchinson Esquire mayor of the Cittie of Dublin & Jo: Bisse Esquire Recorder of the said Cittye this 16o no: 1652
This examinant sayth that in or about the month of July 1652 hee was in fingale in Company with one Rich Strong & one Mathew Smith & James wade & others <viz Oliuer Plunkett Robert Boylan & Thady Elis> and the same tyme this examinant sayth that hee stayd at or neer Brackens towne & the Rest of his partie went to the Great fforest, or that way, - and this examinant after a litle tyme went after the partie & as hee went hee perceiued that the partie was engadged in fight with some men that Came out of the house att the Great forest & as he went hee sawe a youth in a tufft of Bryers, who tould this examinant that hee was a son of Judg Donlans, & that theyr men weare all killd & this examinant wished the said yong man to take an other way (which hee did & soe escaped safe home) to & this examinant sayth that hee tooke a Carbyne from the said yong man, and sayth that hee had noe hand in the killinge of any that weare killd that day att the ffurrowes and this examinant when hee Came to Strongee afforesaid (& the Rest) hee sawe

sawe Judg Donlan who was taken prissoner by Stronge & the Rest & this examinant did perswade them to lett him Goe for a Ransome which they did agree vnto and this examinant sayth that hee was the ocation that the Judg was left, & not Carryed a way prissoner,
and this examinnat sayth that hee was onely two days in Company with the said Strong & the Rest, and sayth that at that tyme there was butt six more (besyds this examinnat) in the said partie of which Stronge & the Rest weare and sayth that the desygne that thay Came vpon was to Surpriz Mr William Plunkett, who thay weare towld we a re was to Come that way the same tyme with a Great sume of mony, And this examinant sayth this examinant that theyr partie weare that day drinkinge very hard seck & other drink att
