The examjnacion of James Goodman of Laughlinstowne in the County of Dublin aged threescore and ten yeares or thereabouts taken before vs the 29th of Januar 1652
Who beeing duely examjned saith, That a little before the Rebellion began in this land, William Beaton an Englishman and a Protestant was parte his tennant on parte of the examjnants land of Laughlinstowne, Hee saith that in harvest 1643 the said Beaton and an other man whose name hee knoweth not were taken prisoners neere Merry=young or Symons=court by a troope vnder the comand of Lieutenant Generall Hugh mc Phelym and that they were brought to Bray where the Irish Campe then was, Hee saith that before his comeing to the Campe as the examjnant heard the said Beaton and the other man were condemned at a Martiall Court then held at Bray aforesaid vppon some informacion giuen against them that they had pillaged some of the Irish partie, Hee saith that soone after that the said Beaton and the other man were condemned as aforesaid this examjnant came into the Campe, and then (this examjnant beeing Marshall to the said Hugh mc Phelym) was comanded by the said Hugh mc Phelym to see the said Beaton and the other man executed which hee accordingly did and stood by vntill they were hanged in a tree in the said towne of Bray and saith that the said Beaton

Beaton and the other man were hanged in the sight of the said Hugh mc Phelym and many others of the said Campe, and that there was direccion giuen for the burying of them, Hee saith that hee doth not knowe of any quarter that was giuen to the said Beaton, And further hee saith not,
