<symbol> The Examination of Richard Raymund taken before us Sir Edward Bagshawe Knight & Doctor Dudley Loftus iustices of peace for the p ro Countie of Dublin &C Concerning the trayterous murder of owen Hely miller of chappell Isot in the said Countie of Dublin the 20th of December 1652
The sayd Richard Raymund bein aged twenty three <A> yeares or theraboute nowe liueing at Lucan in the Countie of Dublin, being dewly sworne and examined deposeth that aboute Candlemas last was a twelue moneth (he being a seruant to Mrs Cooper and then Liueuing at Chappell Isott) ther came an Allarum to the said Towne of chappell Isott, that the tories had gathered togather the Cattle of the sayd towne as they wer grazeing neere the same sayd towne wherupon the Deponent, Gyles Curran, Richard Greg & Owen Hely [ John ] tooke up the best armes they had and put themselues in pursuit of the sayd tories and folowed them soe farr as Knockvary being aboue the reach of muskett shott from the said towne of chappell Isott, that from the said Knockvary the abouesaid Richard Greg dischargd a fouling peece loden with pouder and bullett against the sayd tories and they continued the pursuit further untill they came neere a litle scrubby peece of grounde wher appeared unto them foure more of the said tories whoe had till then concealed themselues under the couert of the said shrubbie place, wherupon they all aduanced with greate vehemency of prosecution, against the deponent and the rest of his company and therwith draue them to a swift flig flight, wherin the deponent sawe one of the sayd Tories shoote at the abouesaid John Hely Owen

<B> Owen Hely and hitt him on the back of with a brase of Bulletts which peirced thourough and thurrough the body of the said Hely, whoe imediatly upon the sayd shott fell downe and dyed, his Cause of his knowledge is for that he was present and sawe and heard what he hath depos{ed} but what was his name that shott at the said Hely he knoweth not otherwise then by the relation of one Bateman & one Greham whoe wer present at the shooting of the said Hely, and being afterwards taken prisoners By the parlement party, toulde this deponent that it was one John Talbott that shott the sayd Hely and further he cannot depose
