The examinacion of Thomas Berry of Lusk in the County of Dublin laborer taken the xxjth day of September 1653 before Liftenant Colonell Isack Dobson and John Preston of Dublin Alderman two of the Committee appoynted by the High Court of Justice sitting at Dublin for taking examinacions of Massacres and Murthers &c
The sayd Thomas aged 40: yeares or thereabouts being duely sworn and examined deposeth and sayth That about two yeares and a half now past a litle before Easter this examinant mett with one James sweetman of Raymoony in the County of Dublin <A> husbandman at Luske aforesayd and the sayd James then told this examinant that not long before that tyme the sayd James being Cutting of ffirs vpon the land of Ballmagwyre that and there he did see a tall handsome man whom he sayd was a haberdasher going a long the High way from Drogheda towards town towards Dublin And that he alsoe did then see seaven foot Tories comming from Ballogh or the ab thereabouts And that whereof one Patrick Shiel and his man Walsh (whoe are now dead) were two of the sayd Tories and one Henry Wylde whoe now liveth with Mr Vsher at Cathfeck was [ ] an other of the sayd Tories And that the sayd Haberdasher perceaving the sayd Tories making their way towards him he fled out of the way and indeavoured to escape them But the sayd Tories swiftly pursued him and overtooke him and killed him vpon the place And the examinant further sayth not
