The Examinacion of Thomas o Runaghye alias Thomas o Mucke taken the 23th day of Aprill 1653
<A> The said Examinante saieth That about sommer last was two yeares as hee remembereth hee was one of the Troope vnder the Comand of Captain ffrancis ffleminge and That hee and Patrick Dempsye Corporell of the said Trope and ffrancis Murphye whoe is now a Trooper vnder the Command of Capt Clarke as hee beleiveth and George wafer all then of the said Captain fflemings Troope goinge vpon a designe to Donabate at a place neare Turvye in the County of Dublin overtooke and sett vpon two gent whome hee hath since heard were called the one of them Arlanter Vsher and the other Edward St Lawrence and a third person whoe was servant to one of them and the having taken them as prisoners carryed them to a place about a muskett shott from thence, and after they had kept them the said Mr Vsher & Mr St Lawrence about the space of an howre there and they the said Mr Vsher & Mr St Lawrence

not givinge this Examinante and the rest of his Company satisfaction in such demands they made to them concerninge Ransome and or Exchange they stripped the <C> said St Lawrence and then the said De m p sye killed him with his owne sworde, and there the n left him vnburyed and afterwards carryed the said Mr Vsher thence with them and left him in custody with one to looke to him, and afterwards the said Mr Vsher was rescued and taken out of Custodye by sume of the English partye And further the Examinante saieth that hee himselfe first seized vpon and laied hands on the said Mr Vsher and then tooke a Cane out of his hands which this Examinante then conceiued had byn a [tooke] Tucke and further saieth not
