The Examinacion of Thomas Birne Glouer taken beefore mee John Bysse Recorder of Dublin at Dublin the 9th day of July 1652
Whoe beeinge duly sworne and examined saith that about this tyme twelue mounth, hee was at the seuen churchess, on a sonday or some other hollyday when that Cahell Cullen was brought thether by a guarde of Luke Tooles soldiers, and seeinge come him comeinge into one of the Churches, this examinate came vnto him as hee went out of the Church, and asked for whate offence hee was brought, thether, to whome the said Cahell saide that hee conceiued hee was brought thether for his goods and whilst this examinante was discourseinge together with the said Cahell ffather Edmunde Realy Viccar generall and Luke Toole walked through the Church yearde and had some discourse with each other, and then Edmunde Realy went aside to talke with other people, and Luke Toole came to the said Cahill to whome the said Cahill Cullen said, Collonell Toole I hope yow will now dischardge mee, seeinge yow haue brought mee heere to father Realy to see whate hee hath to say vnto mee, Luke Toole said that hee shoulde returne to Glanchee from whence hee came, the said Cahell toulde him that hee had noe desire to returne thether, where vppon the said Luke Toole gaue derection that hee shoulde bee brought [ afor ] hee on his way by the guard & when they came to a towne Called Killevin, and the said Guard stayed there, where Luke Toole came vnto them, and Luke Toole entringe into an house there called for ale or aqua vite, and this examinante beeinge by toulde where hee might haue aqua vite, wherevppon hee sent for a bottle of aqua vite thereof and as then was drinkeinge the some of Guarde came vnto him and asked him whate they shoulde doe with the prisoner hee his answere was, that they shoulde not bee longe troubled with him and bidd the r [ ] them to wish him to prepare himselfe, for that hee must suffer, where vppon one Pattrick Bane and this examinante said vnto the said Luke that it were hard that such <a man shoulde die without good grounde, and the said Patrick Bane advised him to Consider him selfe, and his children, least that mans blood shoulde fall vppon them to which hee saide that for his owne parte hee woulde not for a thousande pounds hee woulde put him to death of his owne accorde: Hee further saith that it was reported that when father Realy and the said Luke toole parted in the Church yard aforesaid, the said Luke too Toole called a councell con concerninge the said Cahell Cullen to put him to death, And saith that after the said Collonell Toole tooke away the said Cahell Cullen towards his owne house that night & put him to death the next morninge as this examinante hath heard & further saith not
