The Examinacion of John Marryner late of Carnow in the County of wickloe now of the Cittie of Dublin ye laborer aged thirtie yeares or thereabouts taken the viijth day of October 1652 before vs Sir Gerrard Lowther knight Sir Edward Bolton knight & Thomas Dongan Esquire Commissioners for Administracion of Justice Oyer and Termier & Gaile Delivery &c
The saide John Marryner beinge duly sworne and examined saith that he was Cooke vnto Joabe ward of Knockrath in the County of wickloe at the breakeinge out of the Rebellion and that shortly after about Hallantyde next after breakeinge out of the Rebellion Luke Birne Luke Toole and Phelim mc Redmond with a great Multitud of the Contry to the number of about four or five hundred as he conceives Came to the said Castle of Knockrath aforesaid and tooke in the said Castle from the said Joab ward and the English in the said Castle which was by the said Joab was surrendred vnto the Irish vpon quarter, and the Condicions of the quarter as he heard was, that the said Joabe ward & his sarvants should have security for theire lives and goods; and saith that he this Examinant Edward Sneap other wayes called Ned of the Bridg Thomas Huntpatch a smith and one Richard a Carpenter by trade the said th re last named except the said Richard being tenants vnder to the saide Joabe ward were all

in the saide Castle when the saide Castle was surrendred vnto the Irish as aforesaide and saith <B> that this Examinant and the other three Englishmen and the rest of the English in the saide Castle were in the hall and standinge in there Arme{s} at the tyme when the quarter was made as aforesaide And further saith that som twoe or three dayes after quarter made as aforesaide the saide three English men named Edw: Sneap Tho: Huntpatch & Richard the Carpenter were sent for and demanded to be delivered out of the saide Castle and saith that theye were delivered to one Tirlagh oge mc Donell and som soldiers vnder his Comand as whoe carryed the said three English men vnto the Irish Army in that Contry and that the saide three Englishmen were after ward hanged by the Irish there, as this Examinant did shortly after heare for a certaine & further saith not
