The examjnacion of Shane ô Hurley H erl[ ] of Killkenny Taylor aged threescore yeares or thereabouts taken the twentieth day of May 1654
Who beeing duely sworne and examjned deposeth and saith, That at the begining of the rebellion the examjnant liued at Holliwood in the County of Wickloe Hee saith that hee knew Jane fflood the late wife of William fflood, and that in or about the next spring after the Rebellion diuers of the Rebells vnder the comand of Anthony mc Donell and Donell oge mc Donell beeing in the said Towne of Holliwood, where the said Jane fflood then was, some of the said Rebells (whose names hee knoweth not) tooke away the said Ja Jane fflood and carryed her out of the said towne to a wood about two miles from the said towne the next adioyning wood and there (as the examjnant heard) the said Jane fflood was hanged by the said Rebells, Hee saith that hee or Hoale Branagh was Constable of Holliwood when the said Rebells were there at the tyme aforesaid but hee did not see the said Jane fflood that day that shee was carryed away and haned hanged as aforesaid, Hee saith that the reason wherefore the said Rebells hanged the said Jane fflood (as the examjnant heard) was

was because shee did vse to goe to Harristowne and other English Guarrisons and the said Rebells were afrayde that shee would discouer theire actions and betray the said Rebells to the English And further saith not
