<A> The Examinacion of Ellen Butler of Archerstowne in the Queenes County widdow, aged 30ty or therabouts taken the 21th day of August 1652:
The said Ellen vpon her examinacion saith being duely sworne saith, that att att the beginning of the Rebellion she lyved as a servant with James Butler of Tinihinch; & did serue him for the space of 8 or 9 years or therabouts: and saith that she did know John Stone of the Graige in the County of Kilkeny & William Stone his sonne
Being asked what became of the said John Stone she saith William Stone she saith that she herd that he with some others were hanged by Gerrald fforstall Gibbon fforstall of William Stone she saith that she heard that shee heard that he was hanged by Gerrald fforestall & Gibbon fforestall & others nere Tinihinich by orders from Collonell Walter Bagnall about Aprill May in the first year of the Rebellion; and saith that some of her Mr James Butler his servants & one of Collonell Bagnalls servants who had the order took and seised of the body of the said William who was working att that tyme vpon a new shipp nere the Rore, and brought him by vertue if the said order (as she heard) to [ ] the place wher he was executed, and she further saith that the grounds reason why the said William was so apprehended & executed was that he was suspected to be a spie and held Intelligence with the Garris{on} of Doncanon, being asked whither he was tried had his triall as a spie or not she saith he had none to her k{nowledge} but was executed ymediately vpon the said Orders { } further examined if she knew William Bennett of Ross, s{he saith} she did not, but remembreth that ther was a man { } horsback to Tinihench & spoke to Collonell Bag{nall} { } wife & Collonell Edward Butler his wife when the { } <B> William Stone was going out of the howse to the place {of} execucion about saving the said Stone from death but as it proved he could not prevayle; she further saith that the day after the battle of Ross one {William} Lilly an E{nglishman} formerly servant to Collonell Bagnall was hanged {upon the}{ } the orde{r} { } furth{er} { }
