The Examination of Henery White of Gowran in the County of Kileny Kilkeny bucher taken the 14th of August 1652 before vs Col: Henery Prity & Henery Jones two of the Justases of the peace for the Prouince of Linster
This Examinent aged 54 yeares or theyr about Duly sworne and Examined saith that he was borne in Gloustersheire in England <A> that he hath bin an inhabitant about Laughli{n} Gorian & the lowe grauge in the County of Kilkeny thirty yeares: that att the breakeing out of the Rebellion he dwelt in the Grauge being there an tenant to Sir Edward Butler of the Grauge aforesayd that about May 1642 Captain Pierce Butler (sonn to the said Sir Edward Butler) his Company broke into the Deponents howse in the night the sayd Captain being then att Gouran and the sayd Sir Edward Butler being then att Grauge afore sayd: that the Deponent was the next morning Caried away prisoner [ ] to Gouran where were also other English prisoners as Christopher Robinson the Examinants wiffe wiues father, Thomas White the Examinants sonn & his wife, Katherin Stone (the Daughter of John Stone of the Graige in the County of Killkeny) [ ] Alexander Bradford the Examinants sonn in lawe, his father mother and two sisters and

and others to the number of about twenty eight in all, that they were Continewed prisoners att Gouran about 3 weekes & were were <B> then, (by the said Captain Pierce Butler and Sir Walter Butler of Poulston in the County of Kilkeny baronet) sent away from Gouran one pretence of being to be Convayd to Doncanon: that the Convoy was of the sayd Pierce Butlers Company with some others, also Commanded by one [Mor is ] Morice Kelly (alias Morice m Eryn) now of Gouran, then Leftenant to Captain Pierce Butler, that att the Graige in the County of Kilkeny being in the way from Gouran to Doncanon aforesayd, the Examinant & his wife were Goten of out from the Rest of his Company by the meanes of Sir Edmond Butler the Lord of Mount Garrats sonn & by the meanes of Sir Edward Butler afore sayd who sent a letter together to the sayd Edmond Butler Comanding concerning them: and the Rest of the English being Caried away & being bound two and two together: that the Examinant heard that the sayd English were murthered between Ross and Doncanon Duncanon & that not aboue foure of them Escaped of that whole [ ] number This Examinant further saith that before his being sent away as aforesayd from Gouran and being then a in priso{n}
