An Examination vpon oathe taken before me concerning the murther of Lt Abraham Waker and Lieutenant Troy, who were murthered in the Queenes Countie betwixt Maryborrow and Syane
Thady Dwigen of about 40 yeares of age, being duelye sworne, doth depose, that the said Lieutenant Waker, and lt Troy, happened to come into the Towne of Mar. about the tyme that Kilkeney was taken by the lord lt Cromwe{ll} <A> and lt waker, being this examinants former acquaintance, sent for him, to supper, where he priuately shewed vnto this deponent, aswell his dischardge from Castlehauen, as a protection he procured formerly from lt Generall Jones, and that he was ready to make vse of that protection some three monethes or vpwards before, but that he stayed still waitting for conueniencie, to bringe his goods along with him And as the said lt Waker, and lt Troy, and others that were in theit their company, went theire wayes from Mar: intending to drawe homewards where his wife and ch{ild?} were resident in the English Quarters he and lt Troy, <B> were murthered, by a partie of the Irish, betwixt Sya{ne} and Mar and brought to the ridge of Mar. to be bur{ied?} vpon a gearran of John Phillippes in a truckle, And this deponent further saieth that he heard, tha{t} they were murthered by some of the Dowlings and others, and that one of theire horses was possessed after that, by Collonel Lewes Moors wife, And further saith not

George Leigh of about 60 yeares of age, being duelye sworne, doth depose, saieth that he liued in Mar: when lt Abraham Waker, and lt Troy, came thither, where they lodged togeather that night in John Phillippes house, where the said waker tould him of what resolucion he had, of goeing to the English quarters with what goods he had, togeather with neere 100 li. in money, and was mett by the way, at Dyrrygoran within two myles of Maryburrow, where they were murthered as the deponent heard, by John Hardinge, John [ ] oge Dowlinge, and Teige Dowlinge, and others, and that he was present at the buriall of the said murthered lieutenants vpon the ridge of Maryburrough, and further saieth not.
