The examinacion of Elenor Jepsson wife of Colonell Norris Jephson daughter of the Dame Ann Colly late of Carbree in the County of Kildare being duly sworne sayeth.
That vpon the first daye of Maye 1642 there were three men kille of her said mothers servants killed by the Rebells vpon their entring & takinge of her said mothers house or Castle in Carbree, the names of one of the men that were killed ware was John Mac Gwire porter, one Darby, & a slater whose name shee remembers not, shee heard then that Lewis <A> Moore comanded in cheif that party of the Irish <A> Rebells, and shee sawe the Rebells drawne about the Castle, & when they entered the Castle; and sayeth that Luke Brymidgham, one father knowles a preist, father Rowen a preist and one Captain Garrett ffitz Garrett & as shee remembers one father Plunckett were there present; she further sayeth, that they killed the said Darby within 3 or 4 howers after their entry, & the other two, they killed Murthered the next morninge, & burnt the Castle having first pillaged the Castle, she was then but a Childe of about the age of Eleaven yeares, all which shee remembers very well, and further shee sayeth not.
