The Examination of Dame Margarett bourke, of Mulerdstowne in the County of killdare taken beefore mee, the first day of December 1652
whoe beeinge duely sworne vpon the holy Euangelist, and examined saith, that shee hath binn credibly informed by barnaby kelly at ballina in the said County, and shane leagh Connor, and Elianor browne, that one Connogher O Merginn (seruant vnto donogh Connor then of Castletowne in Elie O Carroll) tooke from him the said donogh, a Croft of ground, which hee plowed, wherupon John Connor, <A> (brother vnto the said donogh) questioned; the said Connoghor, wherefore hee plowed the said ground, who answered, that it was sett vnto him by his said brother Donogh, wherupon they fell att variance, and were parted, butt soe soone as the said Connogher left the house, hee was followed by the said John, and murthered. that the said John was immediately therupon apprehended by the said donogh, and putt into the hands of an Irish Officer, butt who the off ic er hee was, or to what end deliuered vnto him, shee hath not heard. that soone after (as shee hath beene informed) hee receaued the said John into his family, where hee since liued, vntill of late sent by him the said Donogh into Spayne, in the Company of one Teige O Creheene, and by him the said donogh furnished with money to beare, his Chardges, butt doth not remember who informed her heerof, and further deposeth not.
