The examjnacion of Thomas ffenaghts al{ias} ffenaghan of Turnings in the County of Killdare ffowler aged twenty six yeares or thereabouts taken the 15th day of July 1654 before vs mee Thomas Dongan Esquire one of the Comissioners for Administracion of Justice at Dublin and Comissioner to make Enquirye after Murthe{r} & Massacres &c.
Who beeing duely sworne and examjned deposeth and saith, That about eleuen yeares since the examjnant beeing at Turnings aforesaid in Company with Willia{m} Maghery and william mc Teige both since decease{d} amongst other discourse the said William Maghery <A> and William mc Teige tould the examjnant that John Hagan and Daniell Hagan both now prisoners in Dublin had murthered two or three soldiers at {the} Connyborow of Blackhall in the Co of Killdare w{ithin} halfe a Myle of Clane in the said County, T{he} examjnant further saith that some difference been betweene the examjnant and the said John and Daniell Hagan, the examjnant tould his the ex{amjnants} Mother that if the said Hagans would not { } the examjnant alone it would bee worse for th{em} for that they had murthered two or three soldie{rs} and that they could tell noe such thing of th{e} examjnant The examjnant further saith that abo{ut} a month since the examjnant beeing in discourse with M{r} Thomas Edward Jones concerning the said difference the examjnant did then tell the said Edward Jon{es} that if the said John Hagan would not lett the examjnant alone hee the said John Hagan a{nd} his brother Daniell Hagan should hang as h{ } a{s}

as any of theire generation or words to that effect, and the said Jones therevppon demaunding the cause the examjnant said that hee would make that appeare heereafter, The examjnant further saith that hee knoweth not of any way of discouering the said murther but what the said William Maghery and William mc Teige tould the examjnant concerning the same as aforesaid, And further saith not,
