The Examinacion of Thomas Moynagh of Gurtin in the Barrony of Sleimargah in the Queenes County taken vpon oath before mee Henry Pritty one of the Justices of peace for the province of Leinster the 15th of August 1652
This Examinant being duly sworne sayth aboute the begining of the warrs he liued att Castletowne in the Barrony of Sle i ge Slemargah in the Queenes County & that aboute Easter in the first yeare of the rebellyon <A> Sir Morgan Kavenagh with his fforces laid seidg to Ballylenan in the Barrony of Ballyadams in the same County; & haueing encamped himself & fforces in seuerall villadges aboute the said Castle Ballylenan; whereof was one Captain Humphry Kavenagh was Quartred att the howse of one Mr Pooredom of Castletowne aforesaid where this said Examinant then liued being a seruant to the said Mr Pooredom; sayth that he harde that the said Capt Humphry apprehended seauen English people: whether men woemen or Children he doth not verry well remember, butt to the best of his kno remembrance there was one man; two [ ] woemen & foure Children, which were all hanged by the <B> neck to death in Castletowne aforesaid by the said Capt Humphry Kauenaghs men; & as he this Examinant hard by many; that itt was don by the said Captains Orders & further sayth not.
