<January 27 1652> The Examinacion of Thomas Duff of Mollofiene in the County Meath about the age of 32 yeares sworne and examined sayth
That he was in the Company of Patrick Cusick vpon Sunday after St Peeters Day in the yeare 1651 between Scloonduff and Dainstowne and about sixe of the clock in afternoone, then and there the sayd Patrick Cusick this deponent and others that were then in their Company did meet John Elliott then of Mountaine in the County of Meath who passed by them and presently turned his horse back vpon them & drew out his pistoll m and without saying any word shott the sayd Patrick Cusick and imeadiatly the said sayd Patrick Cusick fell downe to the ground and the sayd Elliott ridd imeadiately alsoe away as from them and this deponent with the rest of the Company did a seeing of him deadly wounded did carry the sayd Patrick Cusick to this deponent his owne house where he the Patrick Cusick lay till tewsday after about twelue of the clock, and then and there dyed of the said wound And further this deponent sayth not.
