The Examinacion of Mrs Elizabeth ffitz Gerrald, wife to Mr William ffitz Gerrald of Tristernagh. aged forty six yeares or thereabouts taken ffebruary 17th 1652
Who being duely sworne and Examined; deposeth and sayth that vpon the 10th ffebruary 1641 Captain Andr. Whight, Captain Christopher Hollywood, & one then called by them father ffather Browne, whome this deponent since found to be one Colonell Dowde, with six foot more in theire Commpany come vnto the house and dwelling of John Ware esquire at Castle Towne=Moylagh, in the County of Meath <A> pretending at first to the said John Ware that they come to see him, hee the said Ware Entertaineing them very civilly, & they haueing not bin aboue an houre in the house be but that the said Whight and Holliwood began to picke quarrells with the said John Ware which this deponent observeing, advised the said Ware privately to begon to Sir Luke ffitz Gerrald, for that she did not like the condicion of theire passages but the said Ware answered her; Thou foolish woman I would trust them had I a thousand liues, and soone after the said John Ware accompanied the said Whight, Hollywood, & Dowd, with the rest of their Company into the Court of his owne Howse where at his one Stable dore, The said John Ware was shott and killed, by one Hugh Dun; according to the direccions of the said Whight or and Hollywood, as this deponent was Informed. And shee further deposeth, that being told by Katherine Conner, one of her servants that the said Hollywood was levelling at her this Examynent to shoot her, and that if shee did not make hast away away her dayes were ended [ ] therevpon this Examinant Made her escape ouer the dead Corps of the said Ware

And this Examinant likewise deposeth that presently after her departure from her said house The Company that murdered the said Ware broke Open the Stable dore and stole away out of the said stable about seaven good horses with theire ffurniture And further this Examinant cannot depose
