Mr Walter Cusacke of Rathregan in the County of Meath gent, alleadgeth that Edward Westly of the Dengen in the sayd County in the yeare 1645, on the 17th of March hee the sayd Walter being in the house of one Richard O Gowen in the Towne of Dengen aforesayd, being a victualing house, there came into the sayd house the sayd Edward Westly, accompanyed with one Teige fflanningham about 12 of the Clocke in the night. One Garrett Westly demanded of the sayd Edward Westly and fflannigan, what caused them to bee abroad in the dead time of the night, the sayd Edward Westly answeared that they were in seeking for the price or value of a skean or a swanogh in English called a Mantle, and that they were neare Longwood, where they mett a souldier of the English Army, and that they killed him, and in Testimony thereof hee the sayd Edward Westly, presented a kinde of a Mix Coullored Coate, of Killkenny ffreize, on the fflower of the sayd house, the which he takeing vp and boasting of, what Act hee had done in killing the sayde souldier, sould his share of the sayd Coate to the sayd fflannigan being his Partner or Assistant in that Act, for three shillings six pence, the sayd Coate being the Coate of the sayd souldier soe killed
