The examinacion of Owin McGuyre nigh Castle Jordan Cottier taken the 14o of February 1653
The said Tirlogh beeing du ly sworne beeing duly sworne & examined, deposeth that Elyn ni Kelwey an vnmarried woeman in Castle Jordan some yeares past (but the year certayne he doth not know) did bear a child vnto one Tirlogh o Doran a married woemans husband, which chyld (as by Common report of the neighboures) was by her murdered & buried in a Dunghill <A> & afterwards digged out of the said Dunghill by a Mastiffe dogg of one Rochford a Tanner of Castle Jordan for which fact the said Elyn was burnt at Knockinagoly by the order & directions of Capt George Cusacke then Governor of Tecroghan, who never the reason of this examinates knowledge of the truth of what he hath deposeth as aforesaid beeing for that he was present & saw the woman burnt & the said Captain Cusacke staying there vntell the very post whervnto she was tyed, was burnt to the ground, & further sayth that the said Capt Cusacke did force the people to bring faggots & amongst others he stroke stroke one James Mulcree for hendring the people from breaking downe the hedges of his Garden & this examinate further deposeth that Bryan Colgan now prisoner in trym had noe other noe hand in the execution then as a spectator looker on & further he deposeth not
