1691The The further examinacion of William Troy of Castle Jordan farmer taken before vs this 14o of February 1653
The said William beeing duly sworne & examined, by vertu of his oath sayth deposeth, that divers yeares agoe, (but the year certayne <A> he doth not know) a woeman caled Elyn ni kilwey, then living in castle Jordan & vnmarried, had a child by one Tirlogh Doran which child (as this examinant was credibly informed) was murdered by the mother, & by her buried in a Dunghill, & he further sayth that the child beeing digged vp by a dogge, some of the neighbours questioned the said Elyn about the murder, which she had first denyed but vppon search made & milke beeing found in hir brestes she confest that the child was hers & that she had murdered it, & this examinat beeing further demanded who they were that Caused the said Elyn to be executed, deposeth that as he hath beene informed it was done by the order of one Peirce Newgent of Baltigery who was then marshall in those partes for the Irish, & he likewise deposeth that he doth not know, whether Bryen Colgan the prisner, was assisting at the execution or noe, but onely what he heard by reports of the Country, & he further deposeth not that he knoweth of none that can give better or cleerer evidenc in this buisness, then one Conor Mallone & further sayth not
