The examinacion of Connor Mallone of Castle Jordan Cottyer taken the 14o day February 1653
The said Connor Mallone beeing duly sworne & examined deposeth that about some seaven yeares agoe, one Elyn ni Gilwey <A> then living at Castle Jordan, & vnmarried, had a child by one Tirlogh รด Doran, which child was found dead in a dunghill & taken vp by a dogg, & he further deposeth that the said woeman was burnt at knockinagooly for the murder of the said child, & that the said Elyn was brought to knockinagoly aforesaid by the Inhabitants of Castle Jordan vpon the orders & directions of Capt George Cusacke, who then was Governor of Tecroghan the reason reste of this examinates knowledge beeing for that he was present when she the said Elyn was carried to knocknagooly, & burnt but denyeth that Bryen Colgan the prisner, had noe any other hand in that execution, but as the rest of the Country beeing as a spectator & further sayth not.
