<A> The examinacion of Ellis Daly alias ffury of Kilkliegh in the County of Westmeath widdowe aged 44 yeares or thereabouts taken the secund day of September 1653 taken before Colonell Thomas Herbert and Thomas Dancer Esquire two of the Comittee appoynted by the High Court of Justice sitting at Dublin for examinacion of Massacers and Murthers Comitted in the County of Westmeath &c
Who being duely sworne and examined deposeth and sayth That at the tyme that that a parley was had betweene the Lo: of Rannallagh and Sir James Dillon knight, which to the best of this examinants memory was in [ ] September in the yeare 1642 Thomas Daly the examinants Late husband mett with then told this examinant that he mett with Oliver Magawly & Lawrence Magawly with many soldiers in their company neere vnto her sayd husbands land the next day after the sayd Parley having with them then prisoner Mr Edward Dalton son of Richard Dalton of Molluimieghan in the sayd County of Westmeath Esquire And that the sayd Oliver Magawly and the rest sayd that they would hang the sayd Edmund Dalton vpon the examinants husbands Land which her sayd husband withstood, and so they tooke the sayd Edward Dalton with them from thence And this examinant heard that they hanged him neere a place called Boolycahilroe the same day And the examinant being greeved for the sayd Edmonds death tooke a sheet with her to bury him But before she came to the place where he was hanged his owne friends tooke his dead body with them and afterwards buried him as the examinant was informed And further deposeth not

to the keepers of the Liberty of England by authoritie of
Parliament in the summ of ------------------------------------ C li.
The Condicion to appeare after ten dayes notice to be given
her or left at her howse and to give evidence against
Oliver Magawly and Lawrence Magawly and others for the
Murther of [One] Edmund Dalton Esquire And not to depart
without licence &c
