The Examinacion of Suffrani Mead als Conner the wife of James Conner of Tecroghan in the County of westmeath yeoman aged thirtye yeares or thereabouts taken before mee the Thomas Richardson of dublin Esquire the eight day of March 1652.
The said Examinant being duely sworne and examined touching the murthering of one Henry mead and Annis his wife and others at the Calloe in the County of longford <A> in the first yeare of the Rebellion saith That that on or about the wednesday last before the first day of May 1642 the said Henry Mead and Annis his wife being the Examinants father and mother and living then at Cashellbeg at the house of one John mcKnogher fferrall were fetched out of the said house iust as they were at dinner by foure or fyve Irish rebells one whereof as was a servant as of Sir Silvester Brownes, and were carryed to a windmill neere the said house and there they killed the Examinants said ffather and hanged her said mother as shee this Examinant was afterwards told by Nell Conner mcCnogher sister to the said John mc Knogher, the Examinant being three miles from the place at the tyme of the said murther, but sayth that shee knoweth not nor hath heard the names of any the said murtherers but beleiveth the said Nell mc Knogher knoweth the said murtherers names And being demanded whether shee knewe of any other murther to

to haue bin committed in the said County or elswhere since the beginning of the said Rebellion and by whom, and vppon whom, sayth that shee heard by the report of the Countrey that the very next day after the murther of her said father and mother one William Steele and daniell Stibbs were murthered at the said windmill, by but by whom shee knowes not, nor hath heard, saving that shee hath heard that one Captaine fferrall (since killed at Athlone) was a principall Actor in the said murther, and further sayth that one Donell mc award now prisoner <B> in the Marshalsey in dublin did strippe this Examinant and her said ffather and mother about a quarter of a yeare before the said Murther, And further shee cannot depose any thing materiall.
