Katherine the wife of Morgan Murry, being duely sworne and examined (by the interpretacion of her said <A> husband vppon his oath also) sayth shee knoweth Captaine Marcus Cruise, and hath knowne him ever since hee was at the ffort of Ballileague, being about two yeares since or vpwards, And did knowe Hugh mcBryan B fferrall deceased, ever since shee was a child, to the day of his death, And further sayth that betweene Michelmas and Allhallantide (to her best remembrance) two yeares since, there was Masse neere her said husbands house, being then in the Callo, in the parish of Castletowne, in the County of longford, where shee sh saw the said Captaine Cruise, and his brothers Richard Cruise and luke Cruise, and saw also the said Hugh mc Bryan fferrall, And sayth that assoone as Masse was over some gentleman comming into her house to dyne shee filled them some beere, and as shee was filling out the first cuppe, a noyse was heard of some loud words, & falling out, neere the house, and presently after a shott of a pistoll was also heard, whereuppon her husband and some of the said gentleman ran out to see what was the matter, and shee her selfe went out of her dore and soone after them, and saw her said husband (and some others helping him) bringing the said Hugh fferrall, hurt, to her house,

where hee remained three nights & days and died the third or fourth night, of the said Shott, being in the bottome of his belly, a little aboue his gryne, And sayth that the said Hugh fferrall in the tyme of his languishing in her house said <C> it was Richard Cruise that had killed him, And further sayth that the said Hugh mcBryan fferralls sister (named Giles fferrall, nowe living at Drimshanboe neere Kilcocke) told this Examinant (in the tyme that the said Hugh mc Bryan lay wounded in her house) that the said Captaine Marcus Cruise had given her thirteen or foureteene shillings to carry to the said Hugh mc Bryan his wife, And further sayth that the same day the said Hugh mc Bryan was wounded shee heard foure of the gentlemen th of the Countrey say the to the said Captaine Cruise was to be committed (by the some of the gentlemen there) to the ffort of Ballileague, for the hurting of the said Hugh mc Bryan, but whether hee was putt into the ffort or not shee knoweth not, but sayth hee the said Capt Cruise came to her said house againe the very next day and dranke with some gentlemen of the Countrey, who had a meeting there, And further sayth not.
