The examination of John Jepsey agedee thirtye yeares or there abouts taken in behalfe of the Comonwealth concerninge the aforesaid William Esmond
vpon the whole matter of the Interrogatoryes, this deponent sath that he was seruant to the said William in the begininge of the warr and knoweth that his said Master bought for himeselfe and the vse of the parish twentye musquits three casse of pistolls and one firkine of pouder with which armes in the said first yeare of the warr which armes was by his said master on all occations deliuered out to his seruants and others for the Irish against the English and, farther sath that his said master was seuerall tymes in the first yeare aforesaid before Duncanon with the Irish forces with in armes and sath that Peter Esmond sonne and heire of the said William was then in the yeare aforesaid at and against the forte of Duncannon and this deponent sath that he hath heard that the said Peter had a share of the Cl Cowes and sheep taken from before the forte of Duncanon and allsoe sath that he this deponent beinge at the fight nere Rosse where the Irish armie was routed and this deponent with others beinge forced to flye this deponent Came to said Masters howse whoe then did then receaue hime and giue hime releife and Entertainment as his seruant in which Condetion he Continud for two yeares after and are as a returner to the said howse till witsontyde last

<The said John Jepson being further examined on oath saith That about hee being servant to the said Mr Esmond his Master demanded of him if hee would serve as a Trooper & told him hee shold haue [pare] from the [pere] of Rahaspock & told him hee shold haue one of his the said Esmonds horses which hee accordingly had out of his stable & had also from him a Case [ ] of pistolls sword & other necessaryes, & the like his said Master gave to an Irish man whose name he remembers not, & they both went together & served the Irish against the English in Capt.
