The Examinacion of Robert Browne aiged twentye seauen yeares or there abouts taken on the behalfe of the Commonwealth concerning William Esmond aforesaid
<vpon the whole interrogatorye:> this deponent sath that about the first day of March 1641 the said William was before and against the forte of Duncannon and acted as a Engaged actually with the Irish forces against a partye of English tha that did then make a salle out of the said fforte the Cause of this deponent Knowledg <z> is in that he saw the said Esmond on hors horsebacke in the said Engagment and this deponent farther saith that P the said william Williams sonne and heire: Peter Esmond by name was present and in armes the day aforesaid actinge with the Irish against the English and sath that the said Peter was present at Duncanon the day before Cristmas eue 1641 and with others brought from the said forte a prey of Cowes and sheepe and which sheepe this deponent Conceaueth to belong to Sir Arthur Loftus because they were marked with A: L: and after the said P Peter being com to Ramesgrainge this deponent heard the said Peter say I to Collonell Browne and other Comanders: I haue brought away the first prey: Let me see whoe will dr bringe away the next that beinge the place where the Irish Campe then lay
