The examinacion of James Peirce of { } gentleman aged about fortie yeares taken { } vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwea{l}th Concerning James [ ] walter Deuereux of Harristowne in the County of wexford yeoman vpon the Interrogatoryes &c
<To the 1st Inter> The Examinant Deposeth and saith that the said walter dwelt in the parish of Kilrane in the Irish quarters the first yeare & the whole time of the rebellyon, and did not thence remooue into the english quarters <i> as his english and protestant neighboures, Namely Edmond Burdeaux walter stafford & others did
<To the 2d Inter> Hee Cannot depose
<To the 3d inter> The deponent saith that he is Confident that the said walter Devereux did paie & contribute to publicque rebellyon leuyes, for that the said James walter had a good <k> stocke, & soe could not possibly avoyd Contributing to the maintenance of the Irish forces leuyed against the english.
<To the 4th inter> The deponent saith that the said walter did receiue in the first yeare of the rebellyon a sword and a pike from John stafford of Balliconnor, with which Armes the said walter serued in the said Johns Company in the Capacity of a priuate souldyer, the deponents cause of knowledge is for that the deponent did see the said John walter Devereux to receiue & vse the said Armes <l> & to march therewith in the said John staffords Company & further saith that the said Deponent did see the said walter among the Irish assembled on the bankes of Kilrane, to hinder the Landing of the english out of their ships at which time & place the said walter had a [ ] sword and pike but whether what other Armes the deponent cannot call to minde
<To the 5th Inter> The deponent saith that he hath seen the said walter frequently present at the meetings of the Irish in the first yeare & sithence, (in order to the carrying on the rebellyon,) at the Crosse of [Killmick]
