The Examination of William Stafford of Tamon aged about 40 yeares Duly sworne and examined on the behalfe of the Lord Protector and Comon Wealth of England Deposeth as foll Concerning Will: Sutton
To the 1 and 2d Inter: the said Examinant saith that the said William Sutton lived at Ballikerog as the place of his residence in the yeare 1641 & sithence vntell the approach or a little before the approach of the Lord Protectors Army to this County that hee withdrew himselfe as this deponent heard and went to <e> the County of Waterford vntell hee retourned vppon protection and could not remove formerly to the English Quarters without loss of his estate as this deponent conceiveth
To the 3d inter the deponent cannot depose other then that hee beleeveth hee did Contribute his proporcion of publique levies for the forces entertained for the <f> defence of the County and could not avoide it without vndoeing himselfe and exposing himselfe to plunder
To the 4 inter hee cannot depose
To the 5 inter the deponent cannot depose further then that hee beeleveth that the said Will: Sutton hath byn present at some meetings of the County Councell in the first yeare of the Warr at Wexford and at some subsequent nationall Assemblies at Kilkenny And this deponent saw hime at those places some times
To the 6 hee cannot depose
To the 7 hee cannot depose only that hee beleeveth <g> hee tooke the oath of Association being imposed vppon all men of his reputation as hee conceiveth & not to bee avoided with safety

To the 8o hee cannot depose
To the 9 the said deponent saith that the said Will: Sutton was appointed to the best of his remembrance a Member of the County Councell and in the first yeare of the Warr & afterwards Capt of the horse of the Barony of Shilburne & whether hee acted in that capacity this Deponent Knoweth not
To the 10 inter the deponent saith that the said Will Sutton his eldest Sonn and heire apparant Edward Sutton raised a Company or some thing like a Company in the first yeare of the Warr and the rumor was the ffather was displeased with him for it but whether hee had accesse to <h> him or releife from him the Deponent knoweth not
To the 11 the Deponent saith that one Mr Alcock a parson lived at Ballymccarry at the begining of the Warr and came thence to Wexford and went therehense to England in safety as this deponent heard
To the 12 & 13 hee cannot depose
