The Examination of Nickolas Stafford Esquire taken on behalfe of the Commonwealth concerninge the aforesaid Nickolas Sutton
<to the 1st interro:> this deponent sath that the said Sutton did in the first yeare of the warr liue at Clonard and hath since Continued at the said place which is within a mile of Waxford vntell the yeare 1649 and all that tyme the said place beinge in the Irish quarters and sath that <t> the said Sutton might haue remoued hime selfe in the begininge of the warr into the English quarters as seuerall English did
<to the 2 interro> this deponent sath that the said Sutton did vpon the Lord Crumwells aduance to Waxford remoue himeselfe famelye and stocke into the remote quarters of the Irish and did except not accept the Lord Generalls protection <u> and Continued forth of this Countye about two yeares before he Came into the protection thereof
<to the 3o interro:> this deponent sath that the said Sutton did in the first yeare of the warr actually contrebute in the publicke taxes of this County for <w> the maintainance of the Irish forces and not otherwaise as this deponent beleieuth
