The Examinacion of Nicholas Stafford of Ballimakeharne esquire aged about fortie foure yeares taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning Dauid Devereux of Knochowling in the County of wexford farmer
<To the 1st interr> The examinant Deposeth and saith that the said Dauid Deuereux dwelte at Knochowling (in the said County) neere the examinants habitacion in the Irish quarters, the first yeare, & the whole time of the warre, and did not thence remoove into the english quarters, as the deponent Conceiues hee might haue done, as well as walter stafford Nicholas Codd & other protestants liuing neere him <y> the said Dauid did: His cause of knowledge is for that the examinant dwelte nigh the said Dauid, & that the said Dauid houldeth a parcell of Land from this Deponent
<To the 2d inter> Hee Cannot depose.
<To the 3d interr> The deponent saith that he is confident that the said Dauid did beare and paie his proporcion of publique Leuyes imposed on the countrey, as well the first <z> yeare of the warre as since, as this deponent & others in the Countrey did generallie without exception, the said Dauid being a tennant, & dwelling in the same next parish with to this examinant
<To the 4th & 5th inter> The deponent saith that he Confidently beleiues that hee hath seen the said Dauid Devereux with a sword by his side amongst the Irish of the barrony of forth at their meetings on the bankes of <a> Kilrane or thereabouts in order to oppose the english ships and obstruct their Landing out of the said ships, the certayne time & yeare the deponent doth not remember

<To the 9th interr> The deponent saith that he verily beleiues the said Dauid was a collector of the Irish leuyes in the parish of <b> shatmon in the time of the warre but the certaine yeare the deponent cannot re at present remember
<To the rest of the> Interrogatoryes he Cannot depose & further saith not &c
