James Peirce of Ballell gent aged about fortie yeares, deposeth touching the said Christopher Deuereux that the deponent did see the said christofer in actuall armes in the first yeare of the warre, & that the said christofer <z> did Lead exercise & Comand a partie of men to about the Number of fortie (vnder the Comand of Capt: Phillip Lamporte of Ballehire) to and from the Rendezuous at the crosse of Killinicke, of which companie the said christofer was either Leiut or ensigne, but whether he knoweth not, his cause of knowledge is for that the deponent did see the said Christopher seauerall times to march in the head of the said Company & to haue the guidance & Comand thereof & to be called by his souldiers & others, Leiutenant or ensigne & saith that the deponent did see the said christofer at the bankes of Kilrane with & Comanding his souldiers to shoot against the english ships in Greenore bay to hinder the english landing out of the said ships, which was in the yeare 1643 at which actions & shooting the deponent was present & further saith not
