The Examinacion of Richard Row of Bridgetowne gent: aged twenty fiue yeares or thereabouts taken vpon oath Concerning the aforesaid Arthur Cheeuers of Ballimadder gent
<To the 1st inter> The Examinant Deposeth & saith that the said Arthur did dwell in the County of wexford, in the Irish quarters the first <q> yeare & the whole tyme of the rebellion, & thereout did not remooue into the english quarters as this deponents father Nicholas Row, & other protestants Residing in the foresaid County of wexford did: the deponents cause of knowledge is for that the deponent was constantly acquainted with the said Arthur, & in his the deponents minority dwelt in one howse with the said Arthur Cheeuers, sometime of the warre
<To the 2d Interr> The deponent saith that the foresaid Arthur Cheeuers about Michelmas 1649: wh at which time the Lord Cromwell came to wexford, did fly from his habitacion at Ballimadder in the County aforesaid, & carry away his cattle with him into the County of wexford Kilkenny & other remote quarters of the Irish, for what cause or reason the deponent knoweth not: The deponents cause of knowledge is for that the said Arthur did by his letter, sollicite his mother Ellizabeth Cheeuers, to procure a protecion for him the said Arthur & his Returne into the his former habitacion which protecion this deponent brought out of wexford & deliuered the same to the said Arthurs mother, vpon which hee the said Arthur with his cattle Returned, which was about nyne weekes after the Reducing of wexford
<To the Rest> of the Interrogatoryes the examinant cannot depose, other then that the said Arthur did act & abet the rebellyon, by being in Armes & hauing Comand as a Captayne for the Irish against the english at the fight of Ballibegg neere Rosse: the deponents cause of knowledge is for that the said Arthur informed the deponent of his the said Arthurs being in Armes & hauing Comand at the place aforesaid & of giuing the deponent & others a Relacion of seauerall passages

then and there happening & for that he told the deponent that he the said Arthur escaped by the goodnes of a white gelding whereon the said Arthur then did Ride, & discomending some of the people of the said County, for their backwardnis in that seruice: The which said Arthur was & acted as a burges of the generall assembly of the Irish held at Kilkenny about the yeare 1645: & that the said Arthur had a brother by Name John Cheeuers, who acted as Leiutenant to one Collonel William Browne for the Irish against the english, The <s> deponents cause of knowledge is for that the deponent dwelt in the howse with the said Arthur & John, & knew them to act & officiate as aforesaid & that they the said Arthur & John had correspondency togeather as brothers
