The examinacion of William Jones of Clansharrogh in the barrony of Shelbyrne & County of Wexford mason Aged about sixty three yeares taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth as hereafter followeth vizt
The examinant deposeth and saith that vpon a fryday three weekes before Christmas 1641: one Dermot mc Dooling of the said County of Wexford with one hundred men or more after him Came to ffetherd in the said barrony and County the howse of Nicholas Loftus esquire a protestant then fled into England, which was then defended by the said Nicholas Loftus his seruants, which howse the said Dermot mc Dooling & his Company by force and Armes brake and entered & plundered the same of all the goods and chattles therein to a great vallue & after wardes the said Dermot & his Company came to the examinants howse and Rifled the same & the howses of seauerall other protestants then dwelling about and neere ffetherd And the deponent further saith that the said Dermot was with his said Company all in Armes whereof the said Dermot was called Captaine & the deponent further saith that he did then and there see James Downes of in Armes which said James was called Leiutenant to the said <c> Dermot & that Company & that the deponent did see the said Dermot, Downes & their Company in Armes as aforesaid, of which Company James Barry of Barristowne Humphery Cauanagh (whose Residence was about Eniscorthy ) Donell Cauanagh were parte & the rest the deponent doth not remember their names which said gent and Company Continued at and about ffetherd aforesaid where they did during their abode there, eat a great Number of the cattle of the said Nicholas Loftus & other protestants dwelling thereabouts & the remainder carryed away with them, at which plundering the howse & carrying away the goods of the said Nicholas Loftus, the deponent and other protestants the deponent did see the said James Downes James Barry Humphery & Donell Cauanagh & the rest in actuall Armes, robbing and away d taking away the said goods & Cattle in manner aforesaid and further saith not
