The Examinacion of William Stafford of Tamon gentleman on the behalfe of the common wealth concerning Dermott mc Dowling Kavanaghe
The said Examinant being duely Sworne & examined to the interrogatoryes of inquirie concerning the said Dermott mc Dowling deposeth that the said Dermott was the ringleader auctor and productor of the warr into the county of Wexford & beseidged Rosse & toke in ffithertt & plondered diuers opposing him both irish & English & pursued the warr during his life vntill he was killed at the battle <z> of Redmore the cause of his knowledge is that he being then in the countye & being bound for Dublin durst not goe theather for feare of the said Dermott mc Dowlings forces by land & thervppon went to Wexford purposing to goe by sea & the said Dermott mc Dowling & his forces randging the countie about the mountaine of fforte the deponent was faine to goe 4 or 5 mile about to shune him & his forces & heard of many preiudices & plonderings done by him & his forces on Mr Dormer, on Mr ffrances Allen an English gentleman who after liued with this deponent a while & on many others. & further saith not.
