The examinacion of Patricke Lacy of Eniscorthy yeoman aged fifty yeares or thereabouts taken vpon oath, on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning James Connor and Phelim his sonne of Mondonell in the County of Wexford gent
<To the 1st Interr> The Examinant saith that the said James and Phelim dwelt in the Irish quarters the first yeare of the Rebellyon & sithence & did not thence remooue into the english quarters As <l> seauerall english and protestants in them partes did, His cause of knowledge is for that the deponents habitacion was within a mile to the said James his then Residence
<To the 2d interr> He cannot depose
<To the 3d & 4th> Hee the deponent saith that the said James did act Contribute his person in Armes in the first beginning of the Rebellyon, in the promoting thereof & that the said James did not onely beare his proporcion of publicque taxes <m> himselfe but did leuy of this deponent & others monyes for the maintenance of the Irish then in Armes against the english his cause of knowledge is for that the deponent did see the said said James leuying of monyes & in that this deponent paid his cesse or tax to the said James in the first yeare of the said Rebellyon
<To the 5th> The deponent saith that the deponent hath seen the said James at the publicque meetings of the Irish in the first yeare of the <n> Rebellyon at which meetings Cesses were made and officers appointed as collectors Constables & such like for the Irish against the english
<To the 6th 7: & 8th> Hee cannot depose
<To the 9th interr> The deponent saith that the said James was high constable & cheife collector of the publicque leuyes for the Irish in the first yeare of the said Rebellyon in the vpper quarter of the barrony of Ballaghkeen His cause of knowledge is in that the deponent was appointed & made by the said James subcollector in the said quarter that yeare & paid his the deponents owne cesse

& the monyes by him collected vnto the said James for the pay of the Irish forces then in Armes against the english
<To the 10th inter> The deponent saith that the said Phelim Connor the said James his sonne dwelt with his father till about the yeare 1647 att which time the said James the father did died & after his death the said Phelim tooke vp Armes & Joyned himselfe with the Irish Army against the english in the Company of one Captain Murphy with whom the said Phelim Continued till the Irish submitted and layd downe Armes: His cause of <p> knowledge is for that the deponent did see the said Phelim in Company with the said Irish vpon their marching about the Countrey & when the said Phelim among others layd downe Armes & came to the english quarters & since the said Phelim is gone into Spaine with his said Captain
<To the 11th inter> The deponent saith that one Katheryne Manwairing widdow an english woeman dwelling neere the said James & Phelim about a mile distant from their habitacions fled from her then Residence, among the english to Duncannon <q> forte & thence went into england as this deponent credibly heard the cause of her flight being for feare of the said James Connor and others of the Irish which promoted the rebellyon against the english
