The examinacion of Robert Browne of Knockingall farmer aged about forty yeares taken vpon oath Concerning the said James Bryan of Skarre in the County of Wexford gent deceased
The deponent saith that the deponent dwelt within fiue miles to the said James Bryan in the said first yeare of the warr & saith that he the said James was the first that did risse in Armes in the said County & that did plunder the english at H ffetherd Dumbrody & elsewhere & seizedg of tithes bellonging to the english & protestant ministers then fled the deponents cause of knowledge is for that the deponent did see the said James about a forthnight after Hallantid{e} in the yeare 1641: in Armes with a great Company <d> of men vnder his Comand Marching about the Countrye & that the deponent did see some of the Cattle that were taken away by him the said James from the english, & that this deponent was informed thereof vizt of the said James his plundering the english by some of the Company vnder the said James his Comand & that likewise the deponent did see warrants signed by the said James Bryan about Hallantide aforesaid requiring this deponent & his father & others that had any tithes bellonging to protestants to deliuer the same to his the said James his brother & further saith that the said James was about Christmas 1641: in his marching about the Countrey & plundring the english met with <e> by Lieutenant Esmond & by him killed, & with him one George Browne a plunderer & Robber with th of the said James his Company & lieutenant to the said James Bryan & further saith not
