John Connicke of Maglasse yeoman aged fiftie yeares or thereabouts being duely sworne & examined Concerning the foresaid James Duffe of New Rosse deposeth that the said James was in Actuall Armes for the Irish against the english in the first yeare of the rebellyon abetting and promoting the same which said James was Captayne of a foote Company that Joyned with the Irish which layd seige against the forte of Duncannon His cause of knowledge is for that the deponent being a priuate souldyer in the said seige did see the said James Duffe with his Company as aforesaid at or about Easter after the rebellyon began At which tyme the deponent did see the said James & some of his said Company draw forth & March with A partie of the Irish that lay at shelbeggan against some of the english that <m> were then shooting against Dungulp, some of which english & their officer by Name Leiutenant Trenisoe were by the said Duffe & the rest that engaged in that seruice killed & destroyed & f or which said Duffe came backe with his C a m Company to the Camp at shelbeggan at & with the Irish that Returned from the said slaughter of the english at which Returne d the deponent did see one Martyne Synot gent one of the Irish party bring to the Camp, & weare, the hat & feather bellonging to the said Leiutenant Trenisoe & further Cannot depose &c
