The examinacion of Major Edward Aston of Kilbarry in the County of Waterford taken vpon oath, on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning James Duffe of New Rosse in the County of Wexford deceased
vpon the whole matter of the Interrogatoryes the examinant deposeth and saith that the said James Duffe was in actuall Armes with & of the Irish Rebells of the said County of Wexford that in July in the yeare 1642: Came in Armes to, and beseiged the castle of Tinterne, wherein the deponent & a partie of english were then guarrissoned & that the said James Duffe had the Name & [ ] title of a Captayne among the Rebells at that time <n> when the said castle was beseiged, sumoned and taken His cause of knowledge is for that th{e} deponent did see the said James Duffe then & there in Armes in manner aforesaid, & did heare h{im} the said James called captaine, by the said Irish Rebe{lls} & further saith not &c
